Dolní Morava (Orlickoústecko) - Today, a 55-meter tall lookout tower called Stezka v oblacích was opened in Dolní Morava in the Orlickoústecko region. The attraction, which cost approximately 100 million crowns, aims to attract more visitors to the Králický Sněžník area and enhance the tourism visibility of the larger region. This was stated by Martin Palán, the commercial director of the Sněžník company. The structure, which stands on a rocky ridge in the Slamník mountain massif at an altitude of 1116 meters above sea level, has no equivalent in Central Europe, according to him. Dozens of people tried out the trail this morning.
The construction, made of larch wood and steel elements, significantly towers over the surrounding spruce forest and features a maze of interwoven paths with a total length of 750 meters. The path is wheelchair accessible, allowing people in wheelchairs and with strollers to comfortably reach the summit. Adventurous visitors can slide down a 101-meter-long tube slide with windows. From the summit, there are views of the Králický Sněžník massif with the Morava River valley, extending as far as the main ridge of the Jeseníky Mountains, Suchý vrch, and the Krkonošsko area, including Sněžka.
People do not have to use the same path to reach the top of the tower and back. The tower, which does not spiral regularly, has paths at several levels, and visitors can traverse between floors via a so-called spider web. "At the adrenaline attraction, visitors step onto a net outside the main axis of the structure, with a depth of 55 meters below them," Palán noted. The slide for the descent will be closed in winter for safety reasons due to the risk of condensation.
The building's architect, Zdeněk Fránek, describes the project as an adrenaline experience with a nature trail and a beautiful view of the surrounding nature. "It is a natural structure; it is an abstract sculpture, like a flying moth, a chance construction that certainly has its hidden order," Fránek said.
Stezka v oblacích has been built since this spring near the Slaměnka lodge, close to the upper station of the Sněžník cable car. Visitors can reach it by cable car or on foot via a blue-marked hiking trail. According to initial plans, Stezka v oblacích was supposed to open in the second half of summer, but the opening was delayed due to a windstorm in July and the complexity of the original construction.
The lookout will be open year-round, in the winter season from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The entrance fee is 190 crowns for adults and 120 crowns for children. One slide ride costs 50 crowns.
A somewhat similar construction in the Czech Republic is the Stezka korunami stromů in Lipno, opened in the summer of 2012 in the South Bohemian part of Šumava. The Lipno pathway cost 62 million crowns and offers a view from a height of up to forty meters. Its route is 675 meters long, and the slide measures 52 meters.
The Sněžník company also operates the modern Dolní Morava ski resort, which features seven ski slopes with a total length of ten kilometers, two four-seat chair lifts, and several ski lifts. This year, the company invested 60 million crowns in modernizing the artificial snowmaking on the slopes.
