Kladno - The city of Kladno has prepared a public discussion on the new draft of the zoning plan for December 16, during which residents will still be able to submit objections and comments. All feedback will then be evaluated. The new zoning plan is expected to be approved by the council next year, spokesperson for the city hall Vilém Frček told CTK today. The draft zoning plan was originally supposed to be approved a year and a half ago. However, preparations were delayed due to comments from residents and other entities. According to Frček, comments on the zoning plan can be submitted from December 17 to 23. They will then be evaluated, and based on any changes to the zoning plan, another public discussion will take place. "Subsequently, it will be approved by the council, and the zoning plan will be issued," Frček stated. People can already view the draft of the new zoning plan on the city’s website. The main substantial change to the zoning plan should be the possibility of placing buildings on plots where the city wants to regulate how much area owners can build on. The draft zoning plan includes, for example, the reduction of industrial zones and aims to address traffic problems in the city by building a bypass through the area of the former Poldi Kladno. The proposal counts on the construction of a fast track between Kladno and Prague or the definition of new corridors for roads that should divert freight traffic away from the built-up area near the center. The zoning plan is said to prevent further construction in residential areas or allow the building of family houses after removing the spoil heap near the Švermov district. The draft zoning plan was originally supposed to be approved last April. However, officials had to incorporate about 120 comments into it. Mayor Dan Jiránek (ODS) previously admitted that there were also errors in the concept of the zoning plan that needed to be corrected. The city will acquire the new zoning plan at a cost of around two million crowns. The relatively low acquisition price of the document, which allegedly led to poor quality materials, was criticized by the opposition and some civic associations. The new construction law mandates that cities prepare a zoning plan by 2015.
