Kolín - Kolín wants to build a new bus terminal. The current area in the city center should be moved closer to the train station building. A park and a parking lot for buses transporting tourists could be created at the original location. Construction work is expected to start next spring, with total costs estimated at 40 million crowns, said mayor Vít Rakušan (Change for Kolín) to reporters today. "It should be a modern terminal, so-called 'dry foot' transfer. This means that people would not have to walk anywhere when transferring to the train, but would directly transfer into the station hall," the mayor stated. The city hall will also try to obtain a grant for the project, but according to Rakušan, the chances of success are small, so the city will likely have to pay for the construction from its own budget. A study is already prepared, and work on the project will begin. "The pre-project phase is completed; we have an idea of what it should look like. The project should be completed by the end of the year, and we should also work on obtaining a building permit, and in the spring months of 2014, we should start construction," Rakušan said. The Kolín bus terminal is used by both long-distance and regional buses. According to the city hall, its current form is architecturally fragmented and does not create a functional whole.
