Krnov (Bruntál area) - Repairs of the large hall of the Shooting House in Krnov, in the Bruntál area, will cost over two million crowns and are expected to be completed this autumn. The city has been gradually renovating this cultural monument since 2008, said the city hall spokesperson Dita Círová to ČTK.
In the renovated hall, there will be replicas of period light fixtures, decorative panels on the walls, restored stucco decoration, and renovated wooden floors. However, the main reason for the work in the large hall is primarily the reconstruction of electrical installations and lighting, which was already in an unsatisfactory condition.
"The electrical wiring was outdated and required constant repairs; the lighting was also insufficient and did not meet current standards. In addressing this situation, it was agreed with the heritage conservationists that replicas of chandeliers would be installed in the hall, which would closely resemble the originals designed by Leopold Bauer,” stated Vlastimil Štverák from the public procurement department.
There will be a total of five light replicas in the hall, which will be suspended from the ceiling just like in the past. The original chandeliers and side lights have not survived. The stage and portal will also be modified.
The Shooting House, built in 1906, is the work of a prominent representative of Vienna Secession and individualistic modernism, the Krnov-born architect Leopold Bauer. It is being gradually repaired under the supervision of conservationists. Previously, the city had already renovated, for example, the café and gas connections or repaired the northern and southern terraces. Some windows have also been replaced, parquet floors restored, and the main entrance doors exchanged for an exact replica. Part of the roof has been repaired, and some outdoor spaces have been modified. The city plans further adjustments, seeking to complete the window replacements and repair the plasterwork.
