Litomyšl - Litomyšl is completing work on the city architecture manual. This web database contains about 150 of the most significant buildings, construction sets, and public spaces built in the 20th and 21st centuries. New round metal markers resembling nails have been added to the pavement of the city's streets, marking individual entries in the manual.
"The round metal head of the nail will alert passersby that the given building is included in the manual, and that they can read or listen more about it on the website," said Martina Zuzaňáková, director of the City Gallery of Litomyšl. The marker provides a link to the entry in the manual.
The Litomyšl architectural manual, operated by the city gallery, is a professional-popularization Czech-English database of 146 significant architectural and artistic objects, groups of buildings, and public space modifications that have been built in Litomyšl or its vicinity since 1900 to the present day. Work on its preparation began in 2017, and it is expected to be completed next year.
Selected objects are grouped into seven walking routes and 16 trips. Using the interactive map, interested parties can explore the historic center and nearby villages.
The foundation of the manual consists of texts that describe the significance and architectural or artistic concepts of the selected objects and also inform about their history and circumstances of origin. At the same time, they convey the life stories and works of their creators, architects, architectural studios, or visual artists. Individual profiles of the buildings are accompanied by audio recordings, as well as current and archival photographs and planning documentation. The manual has both an electronic version and a shorter printed version, which is sold, for example, at the city gallery and the information center.
