Sokolov - In Sokolov, the construction of the last phase of the western bypass of the city began in May. The demanding project, costing over 112 million crowns, will bridge road II/210, the railway line, and the Svatava River, thus connecting the existing parts of the bypass. The new road is expected to divert traffic from the city center when traveling towards Kraslice and simultaneously ensure traffic service for the newly created recreational zone by Lake Medard. This was stated by the governor's deputy, Jakub Pánik (ČSSD).
"The last part of the Sokolov bypass is funded by the Ministry of Finance due to the damage caused by mining. This will enable the creation of a fully functional bypass from the western side of Sokolov," said Pánik. From the D6 highway, it will now be possible to reach places like Svatava, Královské Poříčí, Habartov, and other neighboring municipalities without passing through Sokolov's center. Additionally, the construction should relieve Sokolov's residents from noise and emissions. The bypass is expected to be completed in the spring of 2018.
The most challenging part of the construction will be the establishment of a 310-meter-long bridge over road II/210. The project also includes a significant number of utility network relocations and landscaping adjustments.
Last fall, the section from the gymnasium through the Southern Quarry to the existing road II/210 towards Citice was already completed, including a 160-meter-long bridge over the Ohře River. Similarly, the second part was opened, which alleviated traffic mainly for the municipality of Svatava. The total costs for these constructions exceeded 300 million crowns, and the last phase is expected to ensure their connection.
