Sokolov - Sokolov is preparing the reconstruction of Krejcarova bridge, which connects the Old Town Square and the South Quarry forest park. However, it wants to obtain a grant for its reconstruction. From which program is still uncertain, said Deputy Mayor Karel Jakobec (ODS) to ČTK. The costs for the construction of the new bridge are estimated at 28 to 30 million crowns. "We have announced a tender for the developer of the implementation documentation. This is necessary when applying for grants. Currently, the Regional Operational Program Northwest is under consideration. However, we also want to submit a number of other projects there, so it will be up to the council to decide which projects to prioritize. We don't want them to compete with each other," added Jakobec. Another option would be to submit the project to the Cross-Border Cooperation Program Objective 3. Sokolov's partner city, the German Schwandorf, is preparing a similar project for the reconstruction of a bridge in the city, so it would be possible to prepare a mirrored project that would have a chance of obtaining a grant. Krejcarova bridge is in a state of emergency. It was originally built after World War II, mainly to carry the hot water pipeline over the Ohře River. Today, it connects the historic square with the forest park, where the city plans extensive modifications. The main regional cycling path runs alongside it along the Ohře River. The city has already prepared a study for the new design of the bridge. According to it, the current bridge should be replaced by an elegant, cable-suspended bridge.
