Pardubice/Praha – At the age of 93, the prominent architect Miroslav Řepa from Pardubice has died in Prague. Zuzana Nováková from the office of the governor of the Pardubice Region informed ČTK about this. His father, Karel Řepa, was also a well-known architect; his son received a lifetime achievement award from the Architects' Association in 2015.

Miroslav Řepa was the author or co-author of Czechoslovak pavilions at the World Expositions Expo 1967 and 1970. He also served as the technical director of the pavilion at the Expo in Seville in 1992. He contributed, among other things, to the reconstructions of the National and Estates Theaters in Prague and the theater in Pardubice. Together with his father, Karel Řepa, they were the authors of the project for the City Theater in Zlín.

Born in Pardubice, he studied at the Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering in Prague, and later he was admitted to the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. After completing his studies, he briefly collaborated with his father. Řepa gained experience as a designer at the Military Project Institute in Pardubice, later at the Regional Project Institute in Zlín, where he worked until 1961.

Řepa also successfully engaged in exhibition activities. In 1993, the Administration of Prague Castle invited him to curate an exhibition of the Slovenian architect Josip Plečnik, which was later transferred to other cities worldwide (one of Plečnik's students was Karel Řepa, who designed several buildings in Pardubice, including the train station). Subsequently, Miroslav Řepa was appointed the main curator of the unique exhibition "Ten Centuries of Architecture" in the castle complex.

The Pardubice Region collaborated with Miroslav Řepa on several projects. "We will miss him. His nobility, decency, sense of tact, and positive thinking have always inspired me greatly. I don't think I ever saw him angry. He always smiled. He loved Pardubice not only for its architecture but also because of the many personal friends he had. I would like to express my sincere condolences to the entire family," said Governor Martin Netolický (3PK/ČSSD).

Řepa was also a valid member of the jury for several years at the Building of the Year competition in the Pardubice Region. "In addition, he was a natural entertainer, a great storyteller, a gourmet, a lover of red Merlot, a globetrotter with a wealth of experiences, and thus a person with a great outlook on life. At the same time, he was also a highly educated, wise person with immense sensitivity, empathy, and innate elegance. It was certainly a celebration for me to be in his company," said Deputy Governor Roman Línek (Coalition for Pardubice Region). In 2013, the architect was awarded the Award for Merits to the Pardubice Region, which he received at the castle in Pardubice.
