Veltrusy - In the Veltrusy Castle Park, the paths and other elements have been restored. Recently, work was completed costing approximately 20 million crowns. Next year, restoration of part of the castle's interiors is expected to begin, spokesperson of the National Heritage Institute (NPÚ) Jana Hessová stated today in response to a query from ČTK.

Restoration work in the interior of the main building of Veltrusy Castle is expected to be completed by the end of 2019. Restorers will work on items such as painting, stucco decoration, or stone elements, including marble fireplaces. The costs will amount to nearly 16 million crowns. "A contract for the restoration work has been signed with the winner of the tender," Hessová noted.

The restoration of paths, fencing, and parking areas began in Veltrusy this February and lasted approximately eight months. The area was affected by floods in 2002 and 2013, damaging not only the castle building but also the paths and parking lots. They now have a new surface. Additionally, the wooden fencing of the deer enclosure has also been repaired.

At Veltrusy Castle, a range of Advent events is planned, including themed tours, crafting, concerts, and a live nativity scene. Schools can take advantage of several educational programs with a Christmas theme. During the season, it is possible to take up to six tour routes; on December weekends, a route about the aristocracy is open, as well as the exhibition "Weights, Measures, and Weights."
