In Zlín, there will be new walking routes focused on architecture

Zlín – This year’s tourist season in Zlín will offer, for example, new walking routes focused on architecture. The city presented its offer for tourists at travel fairs. This year, the city's attention was also directed towards a significant historical moment, as Zlín celebrates the 700th anniversary of its first written mention, said Tomáš Melzer, spokesperson for the Zlín City Hall, in a press release today.

For the second year, the Zlín Zone will continue, with regular guided walks focused on architecture. "The Zlín City Department of Tourism, together with the authors of the Zlín Architectural Manual database and the aArchitektura association, has prepared a new route called Living at Baťa, which will present the first working-class neighborhood Letná," the spokesperson stated. In addition to information about the basic types of Baťa houses, people will also learn about the rules and regulations that the residents of the neighborhood had to follow. The walks will take place starting May 18, every Wednesday at 3:30 PM and Saturday at 2:00 PM.

Further news comes from the Zlín Architectural Manual, which has been operating for the third year. "The website www.zam.zlin.eu has added new trails Uličník, Miroslav Lorenc, and Gottwaldov II., which introduce the naming of streets and public spaces as well as the most important buildings of the past century. New for this year also includes the publication of a series of interviews with architects Ivan Bergmann, Karel Dokoupil, photographer Miloš Gregor, and designer Luďek Pavézka. These interviews feature personalities who have spent their entire professional careers in Zlín," the spokesperson noted.

The walks "Meet Zlín!" will also continue. "They offer walks along existing routes, but also on new topics related to the 1990s, Gottwaldov, or the construction on Tomáš Baťa Avenue," the spokesperson stated.

The Zlín Zoo, the most visited tourist destination in the Zlín region, is also preparing novelties. In April, the first stage of the educational and breeding center for vultures will open there, and in May, the opening of a new exhibition called Jaguar Trek is planned.
