Chrudim - The leadership of Chrudim is planning further stages of the reconstruction of the sports hall. The first part of the repairs began this January, and it will be necessary to prepare a study and project documentation for the next stages. The town hall will entrust the preparation of the study directly to the design office that was in charge of the first stage, said councilor Aleš Nunvář (Pirates) to journalists today.

"It has already been worked on from an earlier time. We also want to ensure architectural continuity and linkage. After several meetings and defining the scope of the assignment, the design company made an offer, with a total price of 1.3 million crowns including VAT, and the study for the subsequent stages will be developed," stated Nunvář.

Currently, the construction company is working on the reconstruction of the changing rooms, the opening of access from Opletalova Street, the construction of an extension for a new gym, and the repair of the main hall. This part will cost, according to the results of the competition, 103 million crowns including VAT, and it should be completed by August 2024.

In the second stage, the city wants to renovate the Sporthotel, the entrance passage, and the entire sokolovna. Heritage conservationists agreed to the possible demolition of the accommodation facility, where the height levels of the floors differ. "We want to create a capacity of 45 rooms, and the restrooms will no longer be in the hallway but part of the rooms," said Nunvář. The third stage includes a complete renovation of the neighboring Tyrš House while preserving historical elements, considering an attic conversion and the placement of wellness facilities. In the final part, the designers should propose how to place a parking house in the space behind the sports hall. It might have two floors, with a playground on the roof, and access would be from Tyrš Square as well as from the back via Sladkovského Street. The study should be completed by the end of July, after which a competition for the preparation of project documentation will be announced.

The city took over the sports hall in 2010 from the Sokol Gymnastics Association, which did not have the funds for repairs. The hall on Tyrš Square is the only one in the entire city and provides opportunities for sports activities for both sports clubs and some schools. In the past, Chrudim considered building a new sports hall in the V Průhonech area. However, the construction would be very expensive, which is why the new city leadership decided to gradually renovate the current hall due to its almost catastrophic condition.
