Brno - The management of the route of the large city ring road (VMO) in the Brno-south area will be verified by a technical study. The city's council approved today the selection of a company that will prepare it for 1.62 million koruna. The document follows another study that has already been prepared, which dealt with the intersection of the large city ring road with the new railway hub, the city hall informed in a press release. This year, road engineers completed three sections of the city ring road, namely Tomkovo náměstí, Žabovřeská, and Bauerova.

"The technical study will focus on the exact route of the ring road and its implementation in southern Brno, taking into account other related traffic connections and nearby projects. The document will also serve as a basis for a more detailed and broader technical-economic study for the entire section of the VMO, which will lead from the Prague radial through the intended tunnel under the Červený kopec, the grade-separated intersection at Heršpická, the new railway hub, all the way to Hněvkovského. These steps will also help us in defining the entire transportation solution for servicing the new main train station and the emerging district of Trnitá," said the councilor for transportation Petr Kratochvíl (ODS).

The technical study of the VMO SOUTH Contact Zone will be created by the company kynčl architekti, which submitted the most advantageous offer. The delivery deadline is four months after the contract is signed. The main investor in the construction of the VMO is the Road and Motorway Directorate. The city is cooperating by preparing property rights, securing necessary materials, or co-financing.
