Brno - A public hearing for the proposal of the new Brno urban plan will take place on June 22 and 23 at the exhibition center. This was stated in a press release by the spokesperson of the city hall, Filip Poňuchálek. The city has set a date that replaces the original plan to discuss the proposal in May. Due to quarantine measures related to COVID-19, this was not possible. Until June 30, it will also be possible to send comments regarding the proposal to the city hall, which the department of urban planning and development must address.

The urban plan determines, for example, what and where can be built and where public spaces or greenery will remain.

The discussion will begin with public participation always at 3:00 PM. The exact location is not yet determined, the exhibition center has several sufficiently large conference spaces.

The proposal for the urban plan was published by the city on March 24. "Work on the new urban plan is proceeding according to schedule, even despite the pandemic. We are now looking for all possible ways to present it in various forms to the largest number of people. Due to the still valid restrictions, we have therefore decided to hold two public hearings," said Mayor Markéta Vaňková (ODS).

The city expects that the plan will be issued in 2022, the end of this year is the latest deadline permitted by the building law. Due to the epidemic, the city will also allow online viewing and asking questions by phone during the public hearing. "This will be through a recorded call from the toll-free line 800 411 400. The line will be exclusively for recording calls related to the topic from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on the days of the public hearings," said councilor for urban planning Filip Chvátal.

The proposal for the urban plan is available on the portal www.upmb.brno.cz. The new urban plan will replace the existing one from 1994, which has been updated several times but no longer meets the needs of the current city's development. The civic platform Open Brno operates a website www.uzemniplanbrno.cz, where people can write their comments online.
