Vsetín - The Vsetín city hall intends to renovate the functionalist building of the Kobzáňova Kindergarten. The reconstruction of the building, which was constructed between 1948 and 1950 according to the design of architect Ludvík Hilgert, a cultural monument, will cost approximately 13 million Czech crowns. The city hall has obtained five million crowns from European funds. After the renovation, the capacity of the kindergarten will increase by 50 places, informed the spokesperson of the Vsetín city hall, Eva Stejskalová, today.
The project for the renovation of the kindergarten has been prepared by the city since 2006, when it first unsuccessfully submitted a grant application, then from the so-called Norwegian funds. "We are glad that we succeeded this time. This will allow us to resolve not only the technical condition of the building and bring the hygiene parameters of the kindergarten into line with the new regulation but also to offer parents more places for their children right in the city center," stated Mayor Květoslava Othová.
The number of classes in the kindergarten will increase from three to five. "The spaces of the kindergarten will be newly expanded into the entire building, which is currently used by more users," added the mayor, stating that the kindergarten will then be able to accommodate a total of 125 children, of which up to 15 may be disabled. "For hearing-impaired children, two departments will be equipped with a sound loop, and to facilitate orientation for visually impaired children, the spaces will be color-coded and will be supplemented with all necessary rehabilitation and compensatory aids," added Deputy Mayor Iveta Táborská.
According to Stejskalová, the reconstruction should take place during the next year, with the bulk of the work planned for the summer holidays. "Currently, it is necessary to finalize all administrative matters related to the receipt of the grant and subsequently commission the preparation of project documentation," described Michaela Indruchová from the city's strategic development department.
Last year, the city hall was lacking dozens of places in kindergartens. Therefore, it decided to open another class in the Rokytnice kindergarten. It was reopened in the premises of the Family and Maternal Center Sluníčko, which had previously used free rooms in the kindergarten. The organization has moved to the Alceda building in Rybníky. The proposed expansion of the Kobzáňova Kindergarten is thus another response from the city to the growing number of preschoolers.
