Vyškov - The Vyškov bus station is set to undergo reconstruction costing tens of millions of crowns, with preparatory work already started by the operating company Krodos. The reconstruction is spread over two years. This was stated today by city spokesman Michal Kočí in a press release. The company does not yet have a more precise budget.

After the reconstruction, passengers will pass into the main building or exit the premises under a covering. The plan includes four islands, each with two permanent departure stands, with a third stand designated as a reinforcing one. Shelters will be constructed on the islands. The bus stands will no longer be oriented perpendicular to the main building as they are now.

"The layout of the bus station will therefore change completely. The entrance and exit will be newly connected and separated by an island. The exit edge will also be covered, which will no longer be in front of the main building but on the side by Jiří Wolker Street," said Krodos director Jaroslav Polišenský.

The main hall will also undergo some minor changes. "In the main building, we will enlarge the waiting area, we will remove the drivers' room, as its size does not correspond to the profile of the station. We also, of course, plan parking spaces for buses and service vehicles, and we will build a parking lot for taxis and the public on Jiří Wolker Street," Polišenský stated.

He also pointed out that a rentable commercial space will be created, which is expected to house a bakery, refreshments, and probably also a hairdresser, which passengers are accustomed to. The station's furniture will also be changed, and the lighting will be affected by the reconstruction.

This year the company began with preparatory work, primarily involving the relocation of engineering networks. The main part of the changes is planned for next year; the company is scheduling it during the weaker summer operating season.

The leadership of Vyškov discussed the reconstruction with representatives of the company and welcomes the project. "This is purely a private initiative by Krodos. We have seen the visualizations; the changes will be significant and the overall arrangement appeals to us. The comfort of the passengers, of whom there are definitely not few, will improve," said Mayor Karel Goldemund (ČSSD).

Currently, the station has 16 departure stands arranged in the form of island platforms. According to the director of Krodos, around 10,000 people pass through the station daily, with approximately 320 connections operating through it.
