Brno – Six floors instead of three, an extension in the courtyard, and green roofs will characterize the building called Nový Tuzex, which is located next to the multi-level intersection at Hlinky in the Brno exhibition area. A private investor wants to convert the building into the scientific-research Riviera Research Park with offices and laboratories and has asked the Brno leadership for a statement. The city hall mentioned this in a press release.
The investor plans to add three more floors to the currently three-story building and will extend it into the supply courtyard. Parking will be available on the first floor, while the other floors will feature offices, laboratories, a cafeteria, and other facilities. The building will include sidewalks, greenery, and a green roof.
"We support the establishment of another scientific-research center that will complement the functions in the exhibition area. We require that before issuing the zoning decision, the investor of the building sign a cooperation agreement with the city resulting from the Principles for Cooperation with Investors in the Development of Public Infrastructure of the Statutory City of Brno. This agreement will ensure the coordination of work with the Arena Brno project. Furthermore, the conditions relate to drainage and sewage. These must be designed according to the requirements of the Drainage General Plan of the City of Brno and applicable legislation," stated the councilor for urban planning, Filip Chvátal (KDU-ČSL).
The investor also promised to address any potential shortage of parking spaces, which could be located within the exhibition area. After completion, the building will have 15,300 square meters of usable space and accommodate up to 830 employees.
