Znojmo - Znojmo is making a fourth attempt to sell the Malá Louka site to investors. This is more than a five-hectare plot, where, according to an older zoning plan, seven apartment buildings, five multi-family homes, and two terrace houses with a total of 266 apartments are to be built. The price is the same as in the third attempt the city made a year ago, which is 65.7 million crowns, Zuzana Pastrňáková, the city spokesperson, announced in a press release today.

Investors can submit offers for the purchase of the land until May 18. Znojmo's first two attempts had a price of 100 million crowns, after which it opted for a one-third discount, just as it does now. According to Pastrňáková, the current price is based on a recent expert valuation.

"This is the last larger buildable area close to the center of Znojmo with complete public infrastructure,"
said Pastrňáková. A supermarket and a cemetery border the site.

In the past two years, the city's efforts to sell the area under the City Forest to investors, where apartment buildings are to be built in combination with family homes, have also been unsuccessful. There are no other larger areas available for construction in the city. The opposition has criticized in the past that the city insists on old zoning plans that do not correspond to the current market demand.

New houses and apartments are expected to help stop the depopulation of Znojmo. Many people prefer to move to the countryside and build a family house. In recent years, Znojmo has experienced depopulation also due to unemployment in the district reaching up to ten percent. Although unemployment is declining, it remains the highest in the region at seven percent in the Znojmo area. At the beginning of the year, Znojmo had 33,800 inhabitants.
