In the third lecture by curator, journalist, and historian Adam Štěch from the Atlas of Modernism series, you will hear about South America. In connection with the development of modernist architecture, it is mentioned relatively often, but primarily in this context, Brazil is highlighted. However, few pay greater attention to other South American countries. Among them, Uruguay and Argentina are undoubtedly hidden treasures of very original examples of modern trends of the 20th century, among which the surrealist-organic works of Antonio Bonet, the brick architecture of Eladio Dieste, and the fantastic Art Deco of Montevideo certainly stand out.
The lecture will take place on Wednesday, April 22, 2020, at 7:00 PM at CAMP, Vyšehradská 51 in Prague.
