Kristine Jensen: On site and beyond Stories about landscapes and changes in the city. A port, a heritage-protected area, a cemetery, and the design of a new urban space. All of these examples are expressions of a thoughtful approach to nature and landscape within the social structures of the modern city. What is the original significance of these places? What do they have in common? How can landscape architecture transform them in the future? Urban spaces are places of encounter. The mentioned four structures of urban spaces encompass both new settlements and transformations of existing ones. The common goal here is to transform spaces into values related to people and places where culture takes place. Kristine Jensen is the founder and creative director of Arkitekt Kristine Jensens Tegnestue. She operates at the intersection of architecture and landscape architecture, and her approach is authorship-driven in every project. She has received the most accolades for the Nicolai Kulturcenter in Kolding, Denmark.
Iwona Wilczek: Dreams and reality Iwona Wilczek will present the work of a small non-commercial studio in a town in southern Poland. She will talk about teamwork, endless discussions, what they have created in the studio, and their plans. She will also speak about her position as a female architect, the people she collaborates with, and what is most important in her profession. The profession of architect allows her to transform ideas into tangible, real objects. Each visit to a construction site reminds her of the good decisions made during the design process. Iwona Wilczek graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at the Wrocław University of Technology in 2002. She also studied at the Technical University of Dresden. Together with Mariusz Tenczyński, she founded the db2 architekci studio. Together, they created the design for the administrative building of the Opole Village Museum, which was nominated for the Mies van der Rohe Award in 2009. This building also received the Polish Architects' Association (SARP) Award for the best completed building of 2008. The studio engages in designs for public buildings, private houses, and spaces for exhibitions and markets. They participate in competitions. Iwona and Mariusz also teach at the Opole University of Technology.
