The series of lectures November Talks at the Faculty of Architecture CTU is launched by Jacob van Rijs, founder and chief architect of MVRDV, on Monday November 6, 2017, at 6:30 PM in the Gočár lecture hall.

The subtitle of this year's November Talks is "connection" and during four November Mondays, we will present big names in European architecture: Jacob van Rijs, Kees Christiaanse, Rainer Mahlamäki, and Iranian architect Farshid Moussavi.

"We were looking among speakers who have already presented in this lecture series at other schools. What connects them? They work in international contexts, many of them teach at foreign schools. Czech architecture needs this connection like salt," explains Prof. Zdeněk Zavřel, Vice Dean for Foreign Relations at the Faculty of Architecture CTU.

Prof. Jacob van Rijs Ir. FRIBA is a Dutch architect and urban planner. Along with Winy Maas and Nathalie de Vries, he founded the architectural atelier MVRDV in 1993. Jacob van Rijs studied architecture at the University of Delft (1984–1990). He has served as a visiting professor at prominent architecture schools (Berlage Institute Amsterdam, TU Berlin, Tokyo Institute of Technology, and others). His work and the Rotterdam office MVRDV have been awarded international prizes and are published worldwide, including in monographic publications. ww.mvrdv.nl

The series will conclude with a lecture by Farshid Moussavi on November 27 at the Bethlehem Chapel, Bethlehem Square 255/4, Prague 1 – Old Town. Entrance to the lectures is free and barrier-free.
