Unwanted Monuments / A lecture series on not-so-recent architecture and artistic values that we have so far overlooked. Buildings from the time before 1989 are often the subject of open hatred: we associate them with the malaise and arrogance of normalization. However, not all architecture from that time deserves such harsh judgment. In this series, we want to draw attention to the buildings and authors whose work unjustly bears the stains of the era.
March 12: Kotvy Máje: Czech Department Stores 1965-1975
A lecture on the fates and architecture of Kotvy, Máje, and other department stores from the transition between the 1960s and 1970s. The lecture is based on a similarly titled exhibition, whose catalog will be presented by the author, Mgr. Ing.arch. Petr Klíma, during the evening.
