On Wednesday, October 25, 2017, at 4:50 PM, architect Ivan Kroupa will give a lecture at the Faculty of Architecture of the Brno University of Technology, who has been among the most significant Czech architects over the past quarter-century. In addition to his own practice, he also teaches at the Academy of Art, Architecture and Design in Prague (previously he worked at the Faculty of Architecture of the Czech Technical University in Prague). The lecture will be introduced by Prof. Vladimír Šlapeta.

Prof. Ing. arch. Ivan Kroupa (*1960 Kolín) studied at the Faculty of Architecture of the Czech Technical University in Prague (1980-85), subsequently gaining experience in London, Paris, and Barcelona (1989-91), before opening his own practice in 1990. From 2002 to 2008, he was the head of the studio at the Faculty of Architecture of the Czech Technical University in Prague, and since 2008 he has been the head of the architecture studio at the Academy of Art, Architecture and Design in Prague. Selected realized projects include, for example, DOX - Center for Contemporary Art in Prague, Hospital Pavilions B. Braun in Prague and Český Těšín, buildings for the Karmášek printing house in České Budějovice, family houses in Mukařov, Černošice, Vrané nad Vltavou, Chomutovice, Kamenice, Včelná, Stříbrná Skalici, Roudnice nad Labem, cottages in Herlíkovice, in Mukařov, in Porto Viejo in Costa Rica. Among urban projects are, for example, Bažantnice of Prague Castle, Revitalization of Vítkov Hill, Administrative and Residential Complex in Hamburg, Cultural and Museum Complex in Kyiv, National Afghan Museum in Kabul, Revitalization and Utilization of Štvanice Island, Safe Trestles surf resort near San Diego.
