Pavel Janák

An expert on the work of Pavel Janák, Vendula Hnídková, will come to Ostrava, who is preparing a large retrospective exhibition of Janák for the House of Art in Brno. She will give a lecture on Thursday, October 14th, at 6:00 PM at the antiquarian and club Fiducia on the topic: Pavel Janák and the Identity of Czechoslovakia.

Architect Pavel Janák (1882-1956) was one of the key figures of the Czech artistic scene in the first half of the 20th century. His work during the period defined by both world conflicts underwent a notably dynamic development, during which he created buildings that significantly contributed to shaping the visual culture of Czechoslovakia.

Vendula Hnídková will lecture on Pavel Janák - an architectural historian working at the Institute of Art History of the Czech Academy of Sciences, who is currently preparing a retrospective exhibition Pavel Janák – Organizer of Life, which will take place in 2012 at the House of Art in Brno.

This event is held in collaboration with architectural historian Martin Strakoš.
