Theater Kámen, Prague Houses and Libeň Bridge Do Not Demolish, Do Not Widen would like to invite you to a lecture
Pavel Janák: Work from 1908-24
A modernist by conviction, Pavel Janák (1882-1956) did not draw attention to himself with grand gestures. He most consistently pursued the tenets of truthfulness and honesty in architecture, embodied in his early work from the unrealized project of a school in Karlín (1903) to the design of Libeň Bridge. The lecture will showcase Janák's work from 1908 to 1924, including his theoretical underpinnings. We will become acquainted with both realized and unrealized projects from this period. The lecture will be followed by information on the current technical state of Libeň Bridge from the initiative Do Not Demolish, Do Not Widen, and a short segment from the currently emerging documentary film by Petr Hlavička will be shown.
