Variations on the theme of family houses come in many forms, and it seems that their creativity is still far from exhausted. This is confirmed by the multi-generational family house in the exclusive setting of the Mountain Park in Bratislava, whose shape is inspired by interwar avant-garde architecture and, with its distinctive low energy balance, ranks among the progressive homes for living. YTONG aerated concrete blocks have become the ideal building material for this remarkable structure.

TRADITIONAL LOOK AND MODERN YTONG MATERIAL

The Bratislava Mountain Park still ranks among the places with preserved villas in the functionalist style, and the multi-generational family house with a classic white facade consciously draws inspiration from this reference. This nod to tradition contrasts with the unconventional floor plan, the use of modern building material, and the connection to nature - wooden terraces overlook the forested Mountain Park.

“For the actual construction, we chose a trapezoidal floor plan, but with rounded edges, which again created demands for the use of building material,” says the project author, Ing. arch. Juraj Zornička. “That’s why we chose YTONG aerated concrete blocks, which allowed us to address more complex architectural designs while maintaining the quality of thermal insulation properties of the outer shell.”

YTONG aerated concrete blocks not only cope with the unusual shape of the house but also have become part of an ecological operation based on renewable energy sources, such as heat pumps, insulating triple glazing, or ceiling cooling. This is also evidenced by the energy rating, based on which it is classified in category A.
For residents, this means significant savings on operating costs - in summer, air conditioning is not needed, and even in winter, the interior does not need significant heating. Thanks to the large thermal mass, the aerated concrete, which contains millions of air pores, maintains a pleasant temperature - similar to functional clothing. White YTONG aerated concrete blocks also have other advantages, making them an ideal choice for modern living in harmony with nature.

CONTENTED LIVING IN HEALTHY APARTMENTS

A pleasant microclimate in the apartment depends on many factors, including stable temperature, optimal humidity, absence of mold, or drafts. YTONG is a material that ensures healthy living in all of these aspects.

THOUGHTFUL LAYOUT TO DETAIL

The family house has three above-ground and one underground floor, with the floors vertically connected by stairs and an elevator located in a glass-steel shaft. The layout solution of three residential units provides a comfortable residential space and is volumetrically divided into a private part and a guest area. The architectural design of the new building sensitively respects the surrounding development and is harmonized with the nature of the Mountain Park. Its inventive shape on a challenging sloped plot, above-standard energy balance, and healthy indoor environment serves as inspiration for the theme of a modern family house.
