Starting a project with the idea of its end? If we want to invest in furniture sustainably and responsibly towards the environment, then it is certainly appropriate to ask ourselves at the very beginning where the given product will end up at the end of its life cycle. This is exactly how the company Wiesner-Hager thinks, having decided to renovate used furniture, thereby reducing the consumption of materials and CO2 emissions.

The furniture manufacturer Wiesner-Hager has embarked on the path of "reviving" used furniture as part of its circular economy strategy. Its customers can return old products, and the company then disassembles them, recycles non-functional or damaged parts, and tests, cleans, and reuses those that can be reused. The furniture created in this way represents a sustainable and fully functional alternative to new products and is also a way to be more environmentally friendly. Wiesner-Hager has reduced CO2 emissions and material consumption by eighty percent through this manufacturing approach.

Furniloop: recycled office desk

The concept of a circular economy was also applied by Wiesner-Hager to one of last year's new products – the furniloop office desk, whose name refers to the product loop and its components.

The furniloop collection includes writing desks in several designs: with symmetrical and asymmetrical frames, optionally with electrical or mechanical height adjustment, allowing users to alternate between sitting and standing while working. This is ideal for relieving back muscles and alleviating spinal strain.

Privacy also played a key role in the design of the desk, and therefore, included in the product is a three-sided privacy panel covered with fabric made from recycled polyester fibers, which insulate sound. The panel is available in two heights and provides users with peace and the necessary privacy for work. In addition to purely functional aspects, the screen also serves as a striking design element. Moreover, it can be pushed back, facilitating simple and discreet cable management between the panel and the back of the desk.

Wiesner-Hager avoids materials that do not meet criteria for potential reuse, such as plastic, in its furniture production. In contrast, the solid oak tabletop represents a solution that is sustainable, emissions-free, and of high quality.
