Pergo floor coverings, samples of which are offered completely free of charge to architects, designers, and other professionals, are resistant to water, dirt, and mechanical damage, and they are also antistatic. In real life, this means they can withstand the antics of children, pets, dancing in high heels, and even dropping heavier objects will not leave marks on them.

In addition to laminate, vinyl, and wooden floors, Pergo offers collections of new, premium laminate coverings that are resistant to water and moisture. They are designed with the highest quality, design, sustainability, and easy installation in mind. Design and manufacturing take place at the Belgian factory. They come with all the original accessories in the decor of each selected floor, including perimeter and transition strips, as well as footfall insulation to maximize noise reduction both in the room itself and in lower floors (i.e., the spaces beneath the floor). Like other Pergo products, the new collection products are made in an energy-efficient manner from responsibly sourced raw materials, which is why they are certified by international eco-labels such as EU Ecolabel, Nordic Swan Ecolabel, PEFC, M1, EPD, or A+.

Extreme load, easy installation

Pergo introduced its first laminate floor over 40 years ago, and thanks to continuous innovations and patents, it continues to advance this type of flooring. The Uniclic locking joint for easy installation or the TitanX impact-resistant layer have been standard for Pergo floors for many years. There are five new collections to choose from - Bergen (Pro), Stavanger (Pro), Mandal (Pro), Drammen (Pro), and Narvik Pro - all available in load class 32 (AC4), making them suitable for typical residential and commercial use. The designation Pro indicates load class 33 (AC5), so these floors can be installed in commercial spaces with high traffic. The final and completely exceptional product is Narvik Pro with load class 34 (AC6), which is designed for truly extreme loads.

Elegant, rustic, and industrial decors

The Stavanger collection is characterized by very wide planks (almost 29 cm), four uniquely pressed grooves (V-grooves), and a structure that refers to industrial design. The Bergen product range, on the other hand, is an elegant solution for modern interiors due to its narrow boards (16 cm) and four uniquely pressed grooves. Mandal and Drammen are collections that expand the offering of Pergo floors not only with rustic but also minimalist variants. Additionally, all these floors are equipped with AquaSafe technology, making them water-resistant and suitable for use in bathrooms.

Questions for Martin Müller, project manager at Unilin, the manufacturer of Pergo flooring:

What is the main difference between laminate and vinyl flooring?
The differences are various. The first is in the material composition of both floors. Laminate is made from HDF and vinyl from PVC. The thickness of laminate floors ranges from 7 to 9.5 millimeters, while vinyl floors are thinner – from 2.5 to 5 millimeters. In terms of their properties, vinyl floors feel warmer and are quieter when walking on them.

Which is more water-resistant and which is more resistant to mechanical damage?
At Unilin, we have a research and development department, which enables us to make laminate flooring usable in bathrooms or areas where the floor surface may come into direct contact with water – just like with vinyl floors. This is possible thanks to AquaSafe technology. Vinyl floors are generally more prone to mechanical damage, while laminate floors are more resistant.

What makes the new laminate flooring collection innovative?
With each new collection, we always try to respond to current trends, but we also think ahead and combine looks, decors, shades, textures, and so on. Our current goal in the area of innovation is to equip all our floors with AquaSafe technology.

In what spaces should laminate be chosen and in which is vinyl more suitable?
In my experience, laminate flooring is more suitable for administrative buildings due to the requirement for higher loads, and it is also a standard floor for residential buildings. Vinyl flooring is preferred by end customers as an upgrade in individual projects. Due to massive and targeted advertising focused on vinyl planks, vinyl floors are certainly highly sought after by end users. However, it cannot be definitively stated whether laminate or vinyl is more suitable; it always depends on the specific project, circumstances, and also on the purpose for which the floor is intended.
