The golden mean is the new safety railing for Schüco plastic window profiles, which combines glass and a metal barrier in the form of a stainless steel tube as an upper grip. The options of purely glass or only bar designs have thus been complemented by a combination of both materials, which will be appreciated especially by those who want to maintain an unobstructed view from the window but at the same time feel the need to hold onto something solid and visible for their sense of safety while enjoying the view. Of course, the integration of the new railing directly into the window profile, not into the reveals, prevents problems with disrupting the thermal insulation of the building’s envelope and accelerates installation. All types of safety railings can be installed simultaneously with sun shading systems.

Safety railings for PVC window profiles from Schüco are suitable for new buildings as well as for renovated structures. They are used for high windows that extend from floor to ceiling and brighten our interiors. For residential construction, as well as for public buildings such as schools and kindergartens, they offer many design possibilities. Transparent glass railings do not disrupt the views or the overall exterior design of the building. Stainless steel bar railings allow not only the choice of distance between the bars but also the selection of round bars of varying diameters, allowing for the individualization of each project. The combination of glass and bars is a design-wise and functionally mentioned golden mean.

All three types of railings - glass, tubular, and the combination of glass and tube - meet the requirements of applicable regulations in Germany and here, and are compatible with all PVC window profiles from Schüco: with the 7-chamber thermally insulated PVC window system Schüco LivIng, which can be constructed with either stop or center seals. Schüco LivIng also excels in its exclusive use in corners of weldable EPDM seals with excellent durability and shape memory. Safety railings can also be mounted to energy-efficient window profiles without steel reinforcements Schüco Alu Inside, which has a certificate from the Passivhaus Institute. Railings can also be installed on the traditional 6-chamber system Schüco Corona SI 82 or the universally applicable 5-chamber profile with stop sealing Schüco Corona CT 70.

Prefabricated windows with railings expedite construction

The protective railing system saves time due to prefabrication; window systems are delivered to the construction site with already integrated railings, greatly speeding up installation. Depending on the window system, 3 hidden fixing options are available. Besides fixing with a rabbet strip, there are profile and adhesive dowels. The profile dowel is used for plastic window systems with steel reinforcement, while the adhesive dowel serves for fixing the profile without steel reinforcements Schüco Alu Inside. The rabbet strip is universally applicable to all Schüco plastic systems.
