Lighting at the ridge of the roof in conservation areas, Solara KLASIK Two
"Rooftop apartments in conservation areas of urban gabled roofs have a unique energy and genius loci. They can be spacious, airy, and you are among romantic rooftops. The glazing and lighting of these apartments (or even workspaces) have quite strict rules that limit the size of roof windows and studio glazing." says Jakub Formánek, who has been working on this topic for a long time in his role as a roof window manufacturer. "Regulations generally allow studio glazing in the main rooms of the apartment and small windows for lighting at the ridge of the roof. Large studio windows must be divided, and small windows are only 60x60 cm in size. This sounds quite strict to investors, architects, and builders, but my experiences are quite good in the end – with compliance to the rules of heritage management, a fantastic space can be created."
The slimmest profiles of Solara windows to make room for light and view
"We have been focusing heavily on the functional design of roof windows for historical buildings in the last ten years. And being a manufacturer is a live game with various layers of assignments - aside from the heritage care rules, we also follow the client's rules, a user who actually wants the opposite of what the heritage conservator wants :) and at the same time, the rules for thermal insulation, where in summer we want to get rid of excess heat and in winter, on the contrary, we want to keep it. Well, it's fun." says the manufacturer.
Studio roof glazing Solara HISTORIK
"In our handcrafted production, we fine-tune such roof windows and glazing that, while adhering to all the aforementioned rules and technical nuances, will offer the most benefits for the apartment user, i.e. the most glazed areas, views, lighting, protection from the sun in summer and from frost in the cold weeks. We need very slim profiles for both windows and glazing, additionally well-insulated and very strong, looking for every millimeter of savings. We work with triple glazing, thermally reflective layers, and multiple seals. I shouldn't get too technical. Take a look at the photos from our realizations; I really like such attic rooms, and I am seriously satisfied with the results." adds Jakub Formánek on behalf of the manufacturer Solara.
