As part of this day and with the support of traditional European tile and covering manufacturers, a competition was held last year for leading Czech artists, architects, and designers. The aim was to create authorial collections directly in the factories of famous manufacturers, including the Italian REFIN and MADE A MANO, the French Normandy ceramics, and the Spanish INALCO.
A year after this competition, the ARCHTILES team can now announce the first success of a Czech artist in the world of ceramics. Among the ten competitors who shared several categories, the collection of Czech academic painter Ira Svobodová achieved international success. Her works are represented not only in private collections but also in Czech and American galleries, and she has exhibited on the walls of art houses in New York, Los Angeles, Vienna, and London.
The black-and-white 3D collection of decorative tiles, based on optical effects and the play of light and shadows, which Ira Svobodová designed for the first International Tiles Day, has been included in the offerings of the French ceramics manufacturer NORMANDY CERAMICS. Currently, European manufacturers are also planning the implementation of series based on designs from architectural studios FORMA FATAL, A69, and other participants of last year's competition.
