Lumion has completely changed its products. With the introduction of the subscription model (two years ago), it became much more accessible, but now it has significant updates. If you want visualizations at Lumion quality, you can access them for under 5,000 CZK excluding VAT. Of course, it has its specifics.
So, what’s the situation with the products?
Currently, the following are available:
Lumion view – Lumion as a plugin that can instantly create visualizations from a completed 3D model. It costs approximately 4,999 CZK excluding VAT (199 euros), and it is a super-light rendering engine.
Lumion Pro – User license (tied to an email – similar to SketchUp), includes everything Lumion has, i.e., approximately 10,000+ optimized library objects, about 70 effects for photos, videos, and panoramas, options to import, export, save almost all settings and reuse them. The price for a Pro license is approximately 24,975 CZK excluding VAT (999 euros).
Lumion Studio – Floating license of Lumion Pro + Lumion View – A floating license, the same as it has been functioning until now, for multiple users with license details directly in the installation file. This variant is suitable for (let's say) 2-3 or more users and costs approximately 32,475 CZK excluding VAT (1299 euros).
And now in more detail:
The biggest change is the removal of Lumion Standard, which no longer exists. However, a new product has appeared, Lumion View – a lightweight rendering tool in the form of a plugin, with a size of about 250 MB.
Lumion View is a tool that can instantly create visualizations from a prepared model. It is a better alternative to AI if you have a finished model. It won't mess up your textures, won't replace a radiator with a bathtub, etc.
It supports Ray-tracing/Path-tracing technologies and displays light and shadows with the maximum accuracy possible in real time. It can work with PBR material properties, custom material properties, various graphical representations, and custom lights added to the 3D model.
It is a lightweight tool that runs even on newer integrated graphics processors, so if you want to work on the go with a lightweight laptop, you can! A version for MAC is also in the works (currently being tested) + for other software such as Rhinoceros, Revit (currently being tested), ArchiCAD, etc. And of course, further development is planned towards other forms of outputs and presentations.
The main advantages of the plugin are:
with a prepared 3D model, you just need to turn on the plugin and the result is almost ready
Ray-tracing technology processing quality is the same as in Lumion Pro
minimal hardware requirements (basically just to support RT technology)
browsing and editing in real time
the size of the plugin is approximately 250 MB
photorealistic and conceptual outputs
output resolution 4K
What’s new in Lumion Pro version 2025?
Upscaling resolution using artificial intelligence
Object inspector in the scene
Ray-tracing volumetric effects
Fully RT customized water
User-based login
New library content
New materials
New templates and demo scenes
RT cache for storing light rays
Data serialization
New styles
The first thing you will notice are probably the demo scenes and new styles. For example, there is a scene prepared with four seasons, and among the effects, there are very interesting templates like "collage" or "vinted," with double the template options compared to version 2024. Ray-tracing continues to be developed, allowing for better rendering of very dark areas in designs thanks to memory optimization, fully integrating with water and volumetric light effects, resulting in much higher quality outputs in these cases. This is especially important for videos, where you now rely on a minimal number of rendered samples for a single frame – sometimes even 1:1. Local artificial intelligence has been in Lumion for several years, and now it can also upscale outputs, which is practical for weaker PCs, or when you are really in a hurry. And of course, you will also notice the new objects. The latest series focuses on children's equipment and (photogrammetric) trees.
