Frýdek-Místek - The area of the former factory 08 of the Slezan textile company in Frýdek-Místek, still known as the Neumann Brothers' Spinning Mill - Osmička, will be transformed into a cultural and community center called Nová Osmička. From May 1 until the end of September next year, concerts, theater, and film performances will be held there. People will be able to participate in sports, enjoy meals, or simply relax. The costs for cultural projects, facility operation, and security work in the historic building could reach approximately 35 million crowns next year, said Kamil Rudolf, the managing director of Love production, today.
Love production purchased the area this autumn from the company managing the assets of the former textile factory. The companies decided not to disclose the price.
According to Rudolf, the costs of renovating the area will be immense. The new owners plan to make adjustments gradually and allow the public to have a say in its transformation. "We would like the residents of our town to help determine what it will be used for and how it should be utilized," said Rudolf. There is a questionnaire on the website novaosmicka.cz where people can express their opinions.
The multifunctional space, according to Rudolf, will offer activities for every moment. "We are planning some sports activities, exercises, perhaps yoga, fitness, and similar things outdoors. We plan numerous cultural events, theaters, concerts, stand-up comedy, and summer cinemas," said Rudolf. There will also be relaxation areas and gastronomy in the center. "In short, we want to open the area to the public in this first phase," said Rudolf, who is the director of the largest music festival in the Czech Republic, Beats for Love, the Frýdek-Místek festival Sweetsen fest, and the operator of the local club Stoun.
