The Antiquarian and Club Fiducia and architectural historian Martin Strakoš cordially invite you to a guided walk:

Guided walk from the Vítkovice train station to the Jubilee Colony

On Sunday, October 2nd, starting at 14:00. Participants will meet in front of the Ostrava-Vítkovice railway station at 14:00. Free entry.

The walk led by architectural historian Martin Strakoš will begin in front of the Ostrava-Vítkovice railway station, showcasing the best examples of Brussels style in the Ostrava region by architect Josef Danda from 1963-67. The commentary will focus on the concept of the station, its unique artistic decoration, and of course, on the unclear future concerning the fates of other architectural examples from the 1960s, including the similarly valuable railway station building in Havířov. Afterwards, we will head to the nearby Vítkovice cemetery, where we will view the cemetery wall and gates, examples of late Art Nouveau designed by Ludwig Fiala, as well as the most valuable gravestones from the first half of the 20th century. The last third of the walk will be dedicated to the Jubilee Colony in Hrabůvka. Using its gradual construction, particularly the main expressionist phase from the 1920s designed by Ernst / Arnošt Korner and the functionalist completion of the colony after World War II according to the design of Vladimír Krajíček, we will demonstrate the transformations of social housing during the 20th to 40th years of the last century.

Organized by Antiquarian and Club Fiducia, as part of Architecture Day.
