The Family of the Periphery

The periphery is what is not at the center of interest. If we focus on the periphery, the center will find itself at the edge of our interest. The situation of the young, eccentric, and randomly pregnant periphery is not simple. The question is whether we will help it more with delicate care for it or with constant interest in its nearest family: the center and the surrounding landscape.
In 2012, the common denominator of all OFFCITY lectures is the theme of urban peripheries.
MgA. Ida Čapounová (born 1983, Jablonec nad Nisou) is an architect, and half of the architectural workshop IUCH. During her studies at the AAAD under prof. Petr Keil (2004-10), she completed internships with Petr Hájek and Jan Šépka at ČVUT (2007), prof. Ivan Kroupa at AAAD (2007), and at the Royal Academy in Copenhagen (2008). After graduating, she collaborated with the office Pavel Hnilička architects, where she participated in the development of territorial plans for small municipalities. MgA. Jakub Chuchlík (born 1983, Jablonec nad Nisou) is an architect, and half of the architectural workshop IUCH. During his studies at the AAAD under prof. Petr Keil (2003-09), he completed internships with prof. Eva Jiřičná and doc. Radek Kolařík at AAAD (2004-05), prof. Wiel Arets at UDK in Berlin (2006-07), and a work internship at the Danish office BIG in Copenhagen (2008). After graduating, he worked at the office Chalupa architects (2009-11), where he contributed to the winning competition design for the Czech embassy in Washington, D.C. in the USA.
