The architecture and urbanism of hundred-thousand and million metropolises must necessarily differ when compared to a fifteen-thousand regional center. The Open House Brno Festival, in its first year of the Open House Brno section, explores… this time Boskovice will offer the public access to otherwise inaccessible places on Saturday, May 30, 2026, in collaboration with the city administration, allowing them to closely examine the architecture of Boskovice. People can look forward to tours of offices, cultural institutions, private companies, and even a nuclear shelter, and will also glimpse places that are usually off-limits. A total of 22 architecturally interesting locations in the city will be opened. The festival program can be found at boskovice.openhousebrno.cz. Reservations will open on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at 20:00. The official opening of the festival will take place on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 9:18 AM (this is not a typo) at the festival information booth in front of the town hall building at Masaryk Square 4/2, Boskovice. The public and media are invited. “Boskovice and Brno are two cities in one region, close to each other, yet each has a different number of inhabitants, is served by a different amount of traffic, and has different amounts of industry, all requiring different service demands. Those who think that interesting architecture is primarily found in the rich Moravian metropolis should be shown that treasures can be found in every city, you just have to look around. In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, this can be complicated, which is why at the Open House festival we offer the opportunity to stop and view your or a visited city through different eyes. For example, the Evangelical Church, Lanik companies, or LD Seating will definitely be interesting, and a walk with architect Petr Ondráček will provide many intriguing insights. We will be pleased if the Boskovice pop-up of the Open House Brno festival helps locals better understand their home, while also attracting visitors who want to discover new places or compare how architecture and urbanism differ in various-sized settlements,” explains the motivation for holding the architectural festival in Boskovice, the creative director of Open House Brno, Lucie Pešl Šilerová.
