Znojmo – The Znojmo city council has commissioned an architectural study for the transformation of the former municipal baths into a sports hall. This is in response to the results of the March referendum, in which the majority of voters chose this option for transformation. At the same time, the city is addressing the modernization of the building and the expansion of the city office on Armády Square and is considering relocating the library to the former post office building on Horní náměstí, said city spokesperson Petra Šuláková in a press release.
The city leadership is following the results of the referendum even though it was not binding due to lower turnout. The study for the renovation of the already closed pool will be prepared by the Burian – Křivinka office, which also designed the swimming pool and pool in Louka. It is expected to be completed in 14 weeks. "During the development, the concept will be consulted with representatives of the city, local sports clubs, as well as representatives of state administration and the public. The study will serve as a basis for further stages of project documentation and for a potential grant application," said Deputy Mayor Jakub Malačka (Naše Znojmo).
Voters in the referendum also rejected the creation of a centralized city office in the former fire station, so the city is working on the modernization of the current office on Armády Square. An office expansion is also under consideration. "At Monday's city council meeting, we will discuss the purchase of the western wing of the building, which is still privately owned. If the council approves the purchase, we will gain the needed space, which in the future could be used for the administrative department to relocate from the building on Pražská street. We will begin the gradual modernization of the building where the office currently resides this year," said Deputy Mayor Jiří Kacetl (Pro Znojmo).
Based on the referendum, the city is also considering relocating the library from the no longer adequate premises on Zámečnická street to the former post office building on Horní náměstí. A community center is to be part of this project. "We are now commissioning the necessary measurements and preparing materials for the next steps," said Deputy Mayor Bohumila Beranová (Znojmáci).
