The architectural studio querkraft architekten was founded in 1998 by Jakob Dunkl (*12.6.1963), Gerd Erhartt (*10.6.1964), Peter Sapp (*20.8.1961), and Michael Zinner (*1965), graduates of the Technical University of Vienna. Their portfolio includes a wide range of buildings from industrial objects to administrative buildings, shops, family houses, and affordable housing. Their projects are often recognized in architectural competitions. In 2002, they received the Austrian architectural award Bauherrnpreis, and in 2004, the prestigious British award for young European architects "Young Architect of the Year" and the City of Vienna Award. The studio represented Austria at the Venice Biennale.
