The competition seeks to highlight the importance of collaboration and mutual symbiosis between the architect and local government in the development of the municipality. The award is given to the architect and the municipality, thus to the collaborating tandem that has continuously devoted themselves to the concept of the built environment of the municipality and has significantly contributed to quality architecture and sustainable development through their approach.
The Architect for the Municipality competition also supports the role of urban architects and has a direct connection to one of the goals of the Architecture and Building Culture Policy of the Czech Republic, which is to strengthen the role of urban and municipal architects.
