Čáslav announces an art competition for the design of a work of art that will commemorate the personality of Oscar-winning director and screenwriter Miloš Forman.
He was born in house No. 555, Balkán I. The street was renamed Formanova in 2008 in honor of his parents, both of whom perished in concentration camps. Forman spent only his childhood in Čáslav, but according to public statements and family memories, he maintained a strong connection to the town throughout his life. In recent years, Čáslav has been trying to find its own way to honor one of its most prominent natives. One of the steps in this direction should also be the new artwork in Komenského náměstí, in the "little square" under the windows of the former Evangelical Teacher Training Institute, where Forman's father also taught.
The work should enhance the character and atmosphere of the square through its depiction, materials used, and proportions. It should be a dignified, clever, and non-pathetic reminder of this distinguished personality.
