Hradec Králové - The Hradec Králové Region has announced a competition for the construction of a depository for the Regional Museum and Gallery in Jičín, which is to be located in the premises of the rectory in the neighborhood of Robousy. If a company is selected in the competition by the end of the year, work will begin at the start of next year. Jiří Klemt from the governor's office informed ČTK today. Before construction begins, the current building on the site must be removed, and its demolition could start in February 2020.
Construction costs should not exceed 27.3 million crowns without VAT, and the total costs are 35 million crowns excluding tax. The total amount includes not only demolition and construction but also an amount for purchasing equipment and other items. "The deadline for submitting bids should end on November 27 at 9:00 AM. The construction of the depository should take 17 months," stated the councilor for investments and property, Václav Řehoř (ODS).
The regional museum in Jičín has long struggled with a lack of space for storing collection items. According to the deputy governor for culture, Martina Berdychová (Východočeši), the current situation for storing collection items is beyond tolerable limits and does not meet legal requirements.
"Some items are, for example, stored in the hallways of the Jičín Castle, where the climatic conditions are not suitable for them. Other items are stored in commercial rentals, which is very costly," Berdychová stated.
A ground-floor depository will be created in the area of the former rectory in Jičín-Robousy, which will include additional space for storing collection items, as well as areas for the receipt, care, and documentation of collection items, and also facilities for employees, including technical support for operations.
