Terezín, a town embedded in the landscape, hidden behind a ring of star-shaped fortifications. It is a city of diverse atmospheres, interesting perspectives and views, possessing a theatrical spirit. Order and symmetry command here, as right-angled streets guard the highest points of the fortress - four cavalries.
Cavalry VIII, a house with two faces, one of the beads of the Terezín inner circle. Impregnable to the landscape, it is more welcoming to the city. Once it was like a beehive in a military lodging, now it cannot awaken from a long doze. It is a performer playing its part brilliantly for hundreds of years, its regular layout would catch the eye of a university setting. Artists, musicians, actors...
The large courtyard is softened by clusters of chestnuts into sheltered corners, a lime tree alley leads to the main entrance. The main entrance with the concert hall is the heart of the school, with two joints of the building soaring the tubes of the lecture and theater hall. The generous hallway is the shared living room, light flows here from the courtyard through large windows. On the ground floor, long ballet halls hang from an arched line of massive walls. So many jumps and no stomping. The ballet dancers do it like water measurers. On the upper floor, the main corridor spreads into smaller halls, up to the music classrooms. And where there is darkness, a hole in the roof helps. Hidden corners do not reveal the copying of tasks; the polishing of etudes absorbs but hardly anything else. The tapping of rhythm intertwines with the big beat of the school band, in a room flooded with light a sculptor waits for the muse's kiss. During breaks, people go to sunbathe on the roof, where they can see all the way to Litoměřice.

My proposal focuses on the walls and the relationship of the walls to the city. The result is two approaches to the concept of the gate (one restored and the other newly created), further, the conversion of the powder house into a music club, and the ringstrasse – that is, the paths connecting the walls and the city. The work aims to draw attention to the disappearing character of the fortified city and to find solutions for the restoration of the walls and related public spaces.
