Krnov - The council of Krnov in the Bruntál region wants to build a new residential building in the city center. An architectural competition will help determine its appearance. The city anticipates announcing it in the spring. Dita Círová, the city spokesperson, said this today.
"The city of Krnov will announce an architectural-developer competition in the spring, focusing on residential construction on a previously unused plot of land at the corner of Soukenická Street and Minorities Square, opposite the city library," she stated.
The parcel has a total area of 772 m². A new apartment building is set to rise there, which will begin to fill the demolished missing urban structure in Minorities Square. It will serve as a model project that should inspire construction on neighboring plots. The developer is expected to be known by the end of this year, with implementation planned no later than 2027, Círová noted.
Krnov is approaching the selection of a developer through an architectural competition for the first time. "Many cities, like Krnov, have little to no experience in finding developers, or even bad experiences. Often, they fail in the areas of aesthetics and functionality of the entire building, as developers do not accept these requirements and only pursue profit. We want to prevent this through the competition," said Vendula Hrbáčková from the city's development department. Through the competition, the city will receive more proposals from which it can choose the highest quality, she added.
