Urban Interventions Trutnov 2016 - Call

Dear colleagues, students, and artists, we would like to invite you to participate in the Urban Interventions Trutnov 2016. Urban interventions are an open project that originated in 2007 at the Vallo Sadovský studio in Bratislava. After great success in Bratislava, the project was repeated in Prague, Brno, Jablonec nad Nisou, Kladno, and other cities. And now also in Trutnov.

We are addressing architects, artists, students, and residents to consider the current functioning of public space. Our common goal is to identify problematic areas and propose a concept of solutions that could cultivate the given space and make everyday life more pleasant for its residents. The authors create their proposals without claiming a fee. “This is not architecture for free, but it is architecture as a gift to the city,” says co-author of the Urban Interventions idea, architect Matúš Vallo. We believe that this format can also be implemented in our smaller city and significantly increase its residents' interest in public space and architecture in general.

HOW CAN YOU GET INVOLVED?

Send us your “intervention” by August 31, 2016.

All interventions will be exhibited in the center of Trutnov for at least one month starting in October, included in a comprehensive catalog, and on the website www.mestskezasahytrutnov.cz. They will also be presented to the city leadership with recommendations for specific works to be realized. Based on the collected suggestions, critical spots will be identified for which we will recommend announcing architectural competitions.

Please send your interventions (designs) in A1 format (maximum of 2 A1 panels per intervention). The layout will be available in time on the website.
