Prague - Municipalities can receive a grant from the Ministry for Regional Development (MMR) for architectural and urban competitions. The ministry also offers non-profit organizations funding, among other things, to support accessibility or tourism. MMR announced this today in press releases.
To support non-profit organizations, MMR can distribute 55 million crowns, accepting applications until the end of January. Organizations can apply for funding for activities related to barrier-free use of buildings or for housing consulting. They can also receive funding for sustainable regional development or for tourism.
The ministry will distribute five million crowns among municipalities, with local authorities able to receive a maximum of 400,000 crowns for a single competition. They can apply for grants for proposals for public civic amenities, public spaces, and infrastructure, as well as for housing constructions. This can include new builds as well as the renovation of existing buildings. Applications can be submitted until the end of February.
"Architectural and urban competitions are unfortunately still underutilized in the Czech Republic but offer a number of advantages. They allow people to become familiar with construction projects earlier. They give them the opportunity to actively participate in the process of creating the places where they live. Competitions also demonstrably lead to nicer, more economical, and efficient buildings," said Vice Prime Minister for Digitalization and Minister for Regional Development Ivan Bartoš (Pirates). The grant program operated this year as well, with MMR receiving 17 support applications from local authorities totaling six million crowns.
