Prague – Náměstí Bratří Synků in Nusle will be renovated. The city council is preparing an urban-architectural competition for next year, from which a new design of the square will emerge. Along with it, the adjacent part of Otakarova Street will also be renewed. The changes are required by the planned construction of the metro station D. The costs for the competition will be 2.6 million CZK. This follows from the approved city budget for 2022. Metro D will first be built from Pankrác to Písnice, after which the city wants to extend it to Náměstí Míru.
In the future, Náměstí Bratří Synků is expected to have a metro D station with two exits, directly onto the square and also into Otakarova Street. "Together with the construction of the exits from the metro station, it is necessary to revitalize the public spaces of the entire square and the affected part of Otakarova Street," the document states.
The city council has chosen the architectural-urban competition as the most suitable method of transformation. The final form of the modifications will emerge from it. However, the principle of surface traffic solution will be based on the current state. The city will not hold a traditional competition, but it will take place in the form of a so-called competitive dialogue. This is an interactive form in which the city, the Institute of Planning and Development (IPR), and the participants continuously communicate and agree on the final form of the proposal.
In the first phase, metro D will be created between Pankrác and Nové Dvory and will then continue to the Písnice Depot. In the future, a section from Pankrác to Náměstí Míru is planned to be built. Where the metro may lead from Náměstí Míru has not yet been decided. One of the options is Náměstí Republiky, according to another the route should head towards Žižkov and Vysočany. The total estimated cost is according to this year's update 97.79 billion CZK, with the investor being the transport company.
