The region wants to build a new home for the elderly in Nymburk, with an estimated cost of CZK 653 million

Prague – The Central Bohemian Region wants to build a new senior home in Rožďalovice in the Nymburk area. The construction of the facility, which will replace the current establishment in inadequate premises of a castle and a monastery, was approved today by the regional councilors. The region intends to use grants to cover the estimated costs of 653 million crowns. Completion is planned for the end of 2031, reported the spokesman of the regional authority, Zuzana Žídková.

The capacity of the home is expected to remain at 190 beds, while currently 191 clients live in the premises of the castle and monastery. Residents are primarily in shared rooms with common hygiene facilities. The study accounts for a new building in the monastery property, an extension of the existing building by one floor, and the addition of technical facilities. The new facility, to which part of the clients from the castle will move, will mainly consist of single rooms with private sanitary facilities.

"The implementation of the project will improve the quality of the provided services, ensure adequate technical facilities, and create a modern and dignified environment for users of social services," stated the regional councilor for social affairs, Martin Hrabánek (ODS).

According to the region, the construction is expected to last 2.5 to three years. The regional authority has already paid nearly 800,000 crowns for the feasibility study; additional funds will go toward project documentation, building permits, technical supervision of the builder, and construction, including furnishing and landscaping. "Currently, there are no announced grant programs into which the project could be entered. However, it will be the effort during the implementation of the project to find a suitable grant program from which the action could be co-financed," added the councilor.
