At its meeting on February 9, 2010, the Klatovy representatives selected the form of the future parking garage, which is to be built on the site of the current provisional parking lot next to the Cultural House. The winner was proposal No. 39, authored by architects David Kotek, Jaroslav Kotek, and Marek Obtulovič from PROJEKTSTUDIA Ostrava in collaboration with Mai Lan Chi and Pavla Poloka. The design accounts for 128 parking spaces. In the public voting on the Klatovy city website, the proposal received the second highest number of votes (183). This is the same proposal that the expert jury, consisting of Ing. arch. Jiří Merger, Doc. Ing. arch. Zdeněk Franěk, and Ing. Josef Kubec, with substitute Ing. arch. Hana Ryšavá, CSc., deemed the best. The awarded designs can be viewed on the city's website www.klatovy.cz or on the website of the Czech Chamber of Architects.

The investor for the project is expected to be a private entity. The city intends to find one by offering land designated for construction for sale, with the understanding that the investor would carry out the construction according to the winning design.

Klatovy organized a public architectural competition for the first time since 1990. Although the construction site is somewhat constrained, interest in participating in the competition exceeded expectations. In a short period, a total of 44 proposals were submitted, of which 43 met the required conditions and were evaluated. The three proposals deemed the best by the jury were presented for public discussion on the internet, and in the end, the city council discussed them and determined the winner, taking into account the opinions of both the jury and the residents. In my opinion, the high level of the competition was primarily due to the well-chosen jury. The names of the jurors guaranteed a high level of expertise and impartiality in decision-making, thereby attracting interested parties. Significant assistance in organizing the competition was provided by the Czech Chamber of Architects, notably Ms. Ing. Ludmila Cepáková from Brno.

Unfortunately, the new city architect was unable to attend the council meeting due to illness; her opinion, which coincided with that of the jury, was conveyed to the representatives by the mayor.
