The City of Hodonín announces a public architectural-landscape competition for a proposal on the restoration of the park and adjacent public spaces at Mírové náměstí, which is the historical center of the city district.
The aim of the project to restore Mírové náměstí is to create a cultivated public space primarily intended for rest and relaxation, which will also serve to conduct sports and educational activities for adjacent institutions and for occasional cultural events. The park at Mírové náměstí should offer uses for all generations, help fulfill the social potential of the city district, and through a contemporary interpretation, it should connect with the still resonating original identity of the place. In broader contexts, the project can be expected to rehabilitate public space, revive the interest of residents in its appearance, and gradually build mutual trust between the city and the public.
Mírové náměstí is the main public space and the natural focus of the city district. It is also one of the few public parks in Hodonín and a valuable urban area. It is located near the center of the city and is very accessible for residents of other city districts.
"In the preparation of the project, engaging the public was a very important aspect. They had the opportunity to express their suggestions regarding the future appearance of the area both at a public meeting directly in the park, during field surveys, and subsequently through a survey lasting until the end of November. Discussions were also held with neighboring institutions and schools whose clients and pupils are significant users of the area," informed Mayor Libor Střecha about the current developments. Part of the competition materials includes a detailed output from a sociological survey and from public involvement in the project preparation.
"The assignment concerns not only the park itself but also the adjoining public spaces and the representative forecourt of the listed building ZŠ Mírové náměstí. The city expects a comprehensive and sustainable proposal from the competitors that will reflect the needs of target groups and bring a new quality to the addressed area," adds the architect of the city of Hodonín, Ondřej Stolařík, about the content of the competition.
The purpose of the competition is to obtain not only a quality design but also a partner for the subsequent design phases.
Hodonín is interested in its public space.
