Velké Meziříčí (Žďársko) - The title of prestigious construction of the Vysočina region 2008 was awarded today in Velké Meziříčí to five buildings. Experts appreciated the new apartment building in Pelhřimov, the extension to the Žďár company atx facilities, the Center for Documentary Film in Jihlava, and the new section of the Jihlava road bypass. The jury also awarded the title to the chapel in Budeč in the Žďár region, which was also the most liked by the public.
    "The Vysočina construction competition has already become a regular part of the construction life of companies in the region," said Martin Pertl from the Vysočina Building Association, the organizer of the regional competition, to ČTK. This year's seventh edition had 24 buildings registered in five categories. The professional jury was led by František Pšenička from the Faculty of Architecture of ČVUT. Hundreds of people also participated in the online voting, where the competing buildings were published.
    The chapel of Our Lady of Snow in the small village of Budeč was built on the site of an old dilapidated chapel. Its architect was Karel Rosecký. The judges appreciated the simple shape solution of the building, above whose entrance facade is located the belfry, as well as the imaginative design of the furniture.
    The apartment building in Pelhřimov was designed by architect Karel Kupec from Studio A. The building was notable for its façade solution using shades of white, red, and gray. Among the industrial new constructions in the region, the extension to the Žďár company atx - technical offices for complete automation was the most successful. The building, whose façades consist of a combination of aluminum panels and glass, was designed by Adam Architects.
    Among the reconstructions, first place was awarded to last year's transformation of the Jihlava cinema Dukla into the Center for Documentary Film. The work cost over 52 million crowns, with the city and the Ministry of Culture contributing to the expenses. The Vysočina construction competition also included the evaluation of student projects related to the design of the redevelopment of the sports complex in Velké Meziříčí.
