Žďár nad Sázavou - The prestigious building award of the Vysočina Region for the year 2017 was awarded to the restoration of the Art Nouveau villa of Marie Karas in Jihlava. The expert committee of the regional competition today also awarded two titles of Building of the Year. One went to the new pavilion for surgical departments of the Třebíč hospital. The second awarded building is the reconstruction of the Old Town Hall in Havlíčkův Brod, which was also the most popular among the voting public. The results of the regional competition were announced today at the Vysočina cinema in Žďár.
This time, the expert committee evaluated nine nominated buildings. They appreciated the precise execution of the reconstruction of the Jihlava Art Nouveau villa from 1902, taking into account the respect for historical elements and details. Martin Pertl, the chairman of the Vysočina Building Association, which organizes the competition, stated this to ČTK. After reconstruction, there are offices and a duplex apartment in the villa. The restoration of the private house carried out by the Třešť company Podzimek and sons also received the award from the governor of Vysočina Jiří Běhounek (for the ČSSD) and the award from the Czech Chamber of Authorized Engineers and Technicians Active in Construction (ČKAIT).
For the restoration of the Old Town Hall in Havlíčkův Brod, which belongs to the city, experts appreciated the respect for historical values and the craftsmanship involved in the construction. The newly completed hospital pavilion in Třebíč was recognized for its perfect integration into the regional hospital complex as well as for its quality spatial arrangement.
An honorable mention was awarded by the expert committee to the new hall of the auto parts manufacturer Cooper-Standard, which the company built last year in Bystřice nad Pernštejnem.
The organizers of the competition also recognized students and pupils of construction fields. The students worked on the design of a sports complex at the airport near Náměšť nad Oslavou. In vocational fields, the achievements of the pupils in professional competitions were evaluated.
The competition was organized for the sixteenth time by the Vysočina Building Association together with the Union of Entrepreneurs in Construction, ČKAIT, and the region. The nominated buildings are available on the website.
